Gary Ray Lanum

Gary Ray Lanum passed away on August 16th, 2024. He was born on June 21st 1948 to Bennie Lanum and Avis (Bly) Lanum in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, relocating to Coos Bay, Oregon in 1950. Gary was the 5th child born in a line of 7 siblings. Avis and Bennie decided to continue the alphabet naming their children continuing with "C" for Clayton (Lanum), then Dorothy (Lanum) Baldwin, Ellert Lanum (deceased), Frank Lanum (deceased), Gary Lanum, Harry Lanum and ending with Ivan Lanum. 

Gary married Pamela Bondurant (Camp) in 1969 and they had 3 children together. In 1990 Gary married Victoria Zembal and they resided in Washington during his employment years at Air Born Express and Verizon. Gary and Victoria moved to Mesa Arizona during their retirement years. 

Gary is a proud Veteran and served in the military for 6 years with the United States Air Force, 4 years active duty from 1966-1970 and 2 years under the Air Force Reserves from 1970-1972. After being released from Air Force, Gary obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. 

Gary was known for his love of staying connected with his family, often sharing daily texts, and humor-filled posts. He especially enjoyed sharing photos of Arizona’s stunning sunsets, the moon, and the monsoon Arizona storms, capturing nature’s beauty to share with loved ones. A tech enthusiast, Gary always kept up with the latest gadgets and innovations.

Gary cherished his time with his wife, Victoria, they loved exploring new restaurants and attending Church services together. He was an early riser who enjoyed morning walks with their beloved dog, Daisy. When visiting Washington his favorite place to be with family was at the Ocean, he was the best Kite flyer. Gary’s warm spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Gary is survived by his wife Victoria (Zembal) Lanum and his son, David Lanum (Wife Misty) Daughter Tammy Eastland (Husband Arthur Eastland Jr.) and Erica Castro (lHusband Isiah). 8 Grandchildren: Natasha, Naomi, Lamar, Quintan, Angelina, Jessica, Daniel, and Alberto, and 5 Great Grandchildren: Ash, Nathan, Brandon, Jasmine, and Jason.
