Lauris passed away peacefully the morning of April 20th in her home in Gilbert Arizona. She was born in Sandringham, Victoria, Australia on September 25th 1929. The daughter of Ronald Read Burke and Gladys Wood, sister of Ronald Read and Raymond Arthur Burke, all of whom preceded her in death.
Lauris was raised, educated and married in Australia. Married to Henry Charles Steadson in 1948, daughter Robyn Gladys Steadson joined the small family in 1949. Later divorced, Lauris married Luther Kenneth Houghton in 1956. Luke brought with him his son, Gary Gene Houghton to make the family complete. They moved to Hawaii in 1966, where their marriage was solomized in the LDS Laie Temple, Gary and Robyn were sealed to them. They were employed by BYU Hawaii for 2 years before continuing on to the mainland to settle in Wilmington Delaware where Lauris was employed by the Delaware Trust Co for 16 years, retiring from the position of Trust Officer in 1986.
Widowed from husband Luke in 1993, Lauris married H Vaughn Lang adding further extended family.
Upon Vaughn's retirement they moved to Vero Beach, Florida where they lived happily for 25 years. Vaughn passed away in 2020.
Lauris loved her country of birth, Australia and her country of adoption, the USA. She loved her family and cherished friends.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she enjoyed serving in many volunteer capacities though out her life.
From son Gary (deceased), survived by grandchildren- Ken, Sonia, Rachelle, Christina, Celeste and Katrina.
From daughter Robyn (Blane, deceased) grandchildren- Drew, Randi and Craig as well as
many spouses, great grandchildren and even great greats.
Family from the Lang's- Susan, Kyle and Alex. Nancy, Shelly and Katie. Tom, Matthew Kristin, and Courtney.
Her cup runneth over, she loved each of them.
Memorial Services will be held at the LDS Stake Center at 777 East Elliot Road on May 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.Saturday, May 4, 2024
