Rory Jon Armstrong

(1959 - 2025)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Rory Jon Armstrong, age 65, who left us at 2:55 a.m. on March 11th. Rory was a devoted father, brother, friend, and mentor, whose life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and hard work. After bravely fighting illness and being in remission for five years, Rory's life was sadly cut short by sepsis.

Rory was born to Sherilyn Dawn Lindsay and Richard Tad Armstrong, who married in 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona. From a young age, he developed a deep appreciation for hard work, honesty, and the importance of family—values that shaped his entire life.

He had an unwavering love for his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He spent much of his life repairing and restoring bikes, often giving them to homeless individuals or friends who needed them. His passion for motorcycles, cars, and classic vehicles was not just about collecting; it was about giving new life to things others had discarded, turning them into something valuable for those around him.

An avid outdoorsman, Rory found peace in nature, whether he was exploring the world around him or quietly birdwatching. He was also a musician at heart, often found playing his guitar and jamming with friends, filling the air with the music he loved.

Known for his outgoing personality and endless talkative nature, Rory had a unique way of making those around him feel welcome and understood. He instilled in his family the importance of communication, honesty, and the value of living a simple life. His motto was always about giving—whether it was through the gifts he made from things he collected or simply sharing his time and wisdom with others.

Rory was a man who valued honesty above all else. He lived a humble life, never stealing, always working with what he had, and making the best of every situation. Even when faced with challenges, including losing his voice, Rory remained relentless in his desire to help others and never let obstacles slow him down.

He is survived by his children: Melissa Hopson, Melissa Comiskey, Dinah Armstrong (his live-in caregiver, with whom he shared an especially close bond), and Zachary (Zena) Armstrong. Rory and Dinah were inseparable, living together for most of her life, sharing both a deep friendship and a loving father-daughter relationship. Dinah feels immense gratitude for being able to support her father during his time of weakness, honored to care for him as he had always cared for others.

Rory also shared a strong bond with Dinah's fiancé, Augustine Favela, who quickly became like a son to him. They spent countless hours talking, laughing, and working on projects together, and Rory was thrilled to welcome Augustine into the family. He looked forward to their upcoming wedding and took comfort in knowing that Dinah had such a devoted partner by her side.

Rory will be dearly missed by his many friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Rory's life will be held at Family Burial and Cremation in Mesa, Arizona.
