She was born in Mesa, AZ, and grew up in the barrio. Many knew her by her nickname "Cabolla", and in her younger years, her husband called her "Rosebud".
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, David Lopez; five children: Frances, Delilah, Noami, David Jr., and Christina; her siblings: Rachel V. Herrera, Eliborio Cantu, Marlyene V. Madueno and Agustin V. Marquez. She had ten Grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom all loved her very much. Sylvia had faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a Pastor's wife for many years of the Apostolic Faith Assembly. She had been baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost. When she wasn't able to attend church, she would watch the services online.
She loved cloudy-rainy days and the fragrance that came after the rain. She collected snow globes, Faberge eggs and vintage hats and gloves. When her children were younger, Sylvia's love for fashion was used to sketch beautiful dress designs for her daughters, she loved travelling to Mexico and Idaho.
Having a coffee and pan dulce for breakfast was pure enjoyment for Sylvia, her favorite restaurants were Autumn Moon and El Charro in downtown Mesa. She loved fruit like peaches, watermelon, figs and navel oranges, as well as but not limited to popcorn and corn on the cob. Purple was her favorite color and she loved carnations. When her TV was on she would listen to music, religious sermons and the movie classics.
Over the years, Sylvia had three fur babies that were dear to her heart: Pee Wee, Mona and Rosie her teacup Chihuahua. She loved music and her favorite songs were: Amazing Grace, Fortaleza Divina, Jealous Of The Angels, Un Dia A La Vez and Perfect For The King by the Bibb Family.
Sylvia's greatest love and accomplishment was her family. She was strong-willed but humble, very caring with a tremendous heart. This beautiful mother was a best friend to her children and know as a Queen to her son. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and Tia. She will be missed and loved forever!
